Join Rabbi Yanky Baron as he leads a Model Passover Seder for the students and faculty of Howard Community College. During the Seder, Rabbi Baron will guide participants through the various prayers and rituals, provide commentary on the significance of each element, and facilitate discussions about the meaning of the holiday and its relevance to contemporary life.
The Passover Seder is a Jewish ritual that takes place on the first two nights of the Passover holiday. During the Seder, participants retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt and engage in various symbolic rituals, including the eating of Matzah (unleavened bread) and the drinking of four cups of wine.
The Passover Seder typically follows a structured format consisting of 15 steps, or "parts," outlined in a book called the Haggadah. These parts include the telling of the story of the Exodus, the recitation of blessings over various foods, the washing of hands, and the search for the Afikomen, a piece of matzah that is hidden and then retrieved by children.
Throughout the Seder, participants engage in lively conversation, sing traditional songs, and reflect on the themes of freedom, redemption, and renewal central to the Passover holiday. By participating in the Seder, individuals can connect with their Jewish heritage and deepen their understanding of the traditions and values passed down through generations.
