At Chabad

At Chabad of Ellicott City we believe in the power of connectivity; connecting Jews to the joy and warmth of Judaism, connecting people, to harness the power of the community, and connecting every individual to their inner self, to harness the power of the soul.

We are dedicated to reaching out with love to Jews of all affiliations and creating a welcoming home where everyone can experience the warmth of Judaism at their own pace.

We offer a variety of social, spiritual, and educational opportunities. Stay tuned for Shabbat dinners, social activities, adult education classes, holiday parties, Shabbat and Holiday services, and much more!

We welcome everyone from all backgrounds regardless of religious affiliation or level of observance.

The Team

Leah Baron:

Leah grew up in El Paso, TX where she played a special part in Chabad’s growth in the American outback.

Presently she teaches at Gan Israel preschool where she enjoys tending to young children. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, drawing, hiking, and reading.

Yanky Baron:

Yanky grew up in Howard County, MD and is the son of Rabbi Hillel and Chanie Baron who direct the Lubavitch Center for Jewish Education and Gan Israel Preschool. He studied in Rabbinical School in Chicago, Montreal, and Argentina before receiving his ordination at the Central Lubavitch Yeshivah in Brooklyn, NY.

Yanky has volunteered much of his spare time for Chabad social and religious outreach work as well held Rabbinic internships at Chabad institutions around the globe. Yanky has been trained as a cantor and enjoys entertaining crowds as a high tenor.

Leah and Yanky endeavor to establish a welcoming space in Ellicott City where Jews can appreciate the beauty of Jewish experience and tradition. They look forward to forging lasting friendships with every member of the Ellicott City community.
