It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of personal accountability and the opportunity for spiritual renewal that Yom Kippur brings.

The Yom Kippur is a solemn and introspective gathering that commemorates the Jewish Day of Atonement. It is a time for repentance, forgiveness, and spiritual reflection. The service typically includes prayers, fasting, and communal confession of sins.

Come together in reflection and remembrance. The Yizkor Memorial Service includes special prayers and readings that evoke memories of those who have passed away. It is an opportunity for mourners to connect with their grief, pay tribute to their loved ones, and seek comfort and solace in the community.

Mincha and Neilah capture the essence of Yom Kippur by emphasizing repentance, reflection, and the quest of forgiveness. They provide an important time for people to reflect on their actions, reconcile with their Creator, and seek a new beginning as the day comes to an end.

On Thursday, October 24, 2024, the Jewish community of Howard County will gather at Chabad Lubavitch of Howard County for a memorial service honoring the over 1,200 victims of the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attacks in Israel. The event, organized by Chabad, will feature the recitation of the Yizkor prayer and a candle-lighting ceremony to honor the victims. The program will also include a special children's program (childcare throughout) a joyous Simchat Torah celebration, a holiday that marks the completion of the Torah reading cycle, with singing, dancing, and a Kosher dinner.
